McKissack & McKissack
On Thursday August 11, 2022, Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard welcomed McKissack & McKissack, the nation's oldest minority and woman-owned design and construction firm, to The City of Mt. Vernon. McKissack & McKissack, a 117-year-old company based in New York City and Philadelphia for the past three decades, formally opened its regional office at 12 East Third St. Attending the opening ceremony was Cheryl McKissack Daniel, who leads the company with more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. During her tenure as the company’s President and CEO, she has overseen more than 6,000 projects.
Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard remarked that “It is now time for us to set a vision that includes… rendering of a community that is being equitably developed; neighborhoods that connect and are not divided.” Speaking of a community workforce program
McKissack Daniel said that "...a major activity at the Mount Vernon office will be to build a construction workforce using local residents…”
